A change to Attendance Legislation

From the 1st September 2017, if requested, Derbyshire County Council will consider the issue of a penalty notice for any period of holiday absence which has not been authorised by the Headteacher regardless of a child's wider school attendance.

Regular school attendance is an important part of giving your child the best possible start in life. Children who miss school frequently can fall behind with their work, become less confident and do less well in exams. Once your child is registered at school, you are legally responsible for making sure they attend regularly.

If for any reason your child is unable to make it to school please call the school on 01246 432849 and report the absence to the attendance office. If you have not informed the school we will text or call you on the number we have in our records to try to inform you that your child is not in school. We no longer authorise holidays taken in term time.

Registers are taken during morning registration at 8.40am and after lunch to identify who is in attendance for the morning and afternoon sessions. Registers are also taken at the beginning of every lesson so we can identify students missing from lessons.
